FAQ items:
Q: Can PacMet harden steel?
A: Sure! We'll need to know what kind (alloy) of steel it is though. Some steels are not heat treatable but can be case hardened, others need specific temperatures in order to achieve properties. If you're unsure what alloy you have, give us a call and we'll help you figure it out.

Q: Can Pacific Metallurgical perform tensile testing?
A: Pacific Metallurgical does not perform mechanical testing, such as tensile testing, ourselves. Instead, we rely on nearby testing laboratories when mechanical testing is required to verify heat treat. We do however, have an captive metallurgical laboratory where we perform our own surface contamination, case depth, and metallurgical analysis. Even if we don't do the actual testing ourselves, we are still well versed in mechanical properties and testing requirements. If you have specific questions about a material or specification please feel free to give us a call.

Q: What is the longest part PacMet can heat treat?
A: That's a difficult question to answer. It depends on the material and process being performed. If you know these details give us a call or request a quote and we'll let you know what our capabilities are.
